Sex & Relationships

This week’s couple: Off Broadway

When it comes to ideal neighborhoods to go out on a date, few think of anywhere near Times Square, especially Brooklynites like Peter, 26, and Becca, 25. But at Tender, the new steak and sushi restaurant in the Sanctuary Hotel, the two were kept away from the hustle outside. Find out how things ended up going so well that the daters even decided to take a walk afterward in NYC’s most notorious tourist trap before going back to Brooklyn.

She said:

When Peter arrived, he seemed stressed because he’d been running late. He looked like a newspaper reporter on a deadline in his buttoned-up shirt and scruffy do.

We started talking about how we both live in Brooklyn but don’t make it to Midtown very often. Everyone at Tender was very animated. Since it’s a new place, it wasn’t packed, but I bet it will be soon.

Peter is smart and has a sense of humor. He kept making jokes in a sort of stereotypical Jewish grandmother voice. Funny at first, but it wore on me the more he did it.

We exchanged numbers. I’m not sure I see Peter as a romantic interest, but he was fun. I’d happily hang out with him again.

He said:

Most dates I’ve been on have been with more vapid personalities. Thankfully, this was not the experience I had with Becca.

When I first saw Becca, I saw a very attractive, kind person. She was shy at first, but warmed up, and we had great conversation. I quickly learned how much she cared about things other than herself, which I thought was sexy.

The service at Tender was very good, as was my steak. We sat close to each other. It was nice to have a little more intimacy.

Before taking the train back to Brooklyn, we tried taking a romantic walk in Times Square. Then we exchanged numbers before I transferred trains. It was great to go out with a sincere, funny person like Becca, and I’d definitely be interested to see where this could go.
