Woman whose sled busted through city barrier sues

This is tough sledding.

A woman claims a little fun in the snow left her seriously hurt when her sled smashed into a bench in Riverside Park.

The city Parks Department set up the Manhattan sledding spot on Jan. 5, placing bales of hay to cushion sliders making their descent down a snowy knoll, Natasha Reyes says in a Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit.

But the bales weren’t secured, and there was no space between the hay and the park bench, alleges Reyes, who adds that her sled busted through the would-be barrier and into the fixed bench, according to court papers.

The incident left Reyes with series injuries, she claims.

Reyes says in her legal claim that the city was negligent and should have done a better job of “protecting the sledders and tubers who were lawfully using the hill.”

The city will review the lawsuit, a Law Department spokeswoman said.
