The ‘luxury’ 2 bedroom apartment for 22 people

A Midtown landlord is taking cramped city living to new heights — by renting a 2 bedroom apartment with 22 beds, according to a video he posted online.

Hawking what appears to be an illegal hostel, the apartment owner touted the “Luxury Midtown East apartment” for “young professionals” on 27th Street and Third Avenue.

“Here we have some beds. It will be mixed for both guys and girls,” he said, gesturing towards three silver bunk beds in the kitchen.

“This is a brand new apartment… It’s an amazing location. It’s close to all the trains. Very conveniently located. You can walk to Union Square and Grand Central,” said the apartment owner, who posted the clip on YouTube under the name Joseph Morgan.

The space-squeezing landlord continues the tour, offering a view of a bedroom “just for girls” with five more bunk beds.

A second adjacent bedroom — which looks more like a prison cell — features three more bunk beds for men.

The home has no common area, besides a hallway.

But to make the cramped crib seem like the Taj Mahal, the landlord puts a classic real estate spin on the place.

“There is plenty of storage space! Here we have a big closet which we are going to convert into the manager’s room!

There’s also a full kitchen! We’ll provide you with utensils!” he said.

He never used the term “hostel” but hints at it, noting, “As it stands now there are 22 beds…We get a lot of Europeans and South Americans. If you’re interested in meeting some great people who are very clean, then you would probably be welcome here.”

He added, “This is a very serious environment where you can meet amazing people who are very kind but at the same time this is not a party place… I look forward to hearing from you.”

Residents nearby were not aware of the space-crunched crib or any illegal hostel-style operation in the area.

Below the video, the apartment owner notes, “These are SHARED rooms, not private rooms. I do not have private rooms available… Everyone here gets along very well. All tenants are kind, friendly and clean. You will meet incredible people here.”

The YouTube video is titled, “Luxury Midtown East apartment for rent.”

A City Hall spokeswoman said the city has been made aware of a possible illegal hostel and is investigating.

A spokesman for the city’s Department of Buildings said the apartment may be a occupancy, fire or zoning code violation. He declined to comment further without an exact address.

No drinking inside the home allowed — although, with 21 roommates, renters might need it.
