Fake cabby busted twice at JFK Airport

A fake cabby was busted twice at JFK Airport Wednesday after allegedly offering rides to unsuspecting passengers, a source said.

Louis Gomez, 43, was arrested at 8:15 a.m. in a crackdown on unlicensed cabbies during Super Bowl week, the Port Authority source said.

After being charged for solicitation and released, Gomez was busted trying to pick up another passenger at JFK at 8:15 p.m. — exactly 12 hours to the minute later, the source said.

“His game started at 8:15 a.m. and ended at 8:15 p.m. and in between that time, he spent his half-time in custody,” joked one Port Authority Police Department law enforcement official.

Gomez’ first arrest occurred inside Terminal 4, when he was allegedly overheard soliciting a ride to a couple hoping to be driven to Philadelphia. offering a couple

He returned to JFK Airport and Terminal 4 after he was released from custody and was heard by another undercover offering to drive a different couple to Manhattan for $80, a source said.

Gomez, who has at least 15 such arrests at JFK Airport since 1989, was among at least 10 “cab hustlers” arrested yesterday who were hoping to make an extra buck during Super Bowl week.

The undercover crackdown on phony cabbies will continue through Game Day, a source said.
