Dolce & Gabbana launches line of hijabs

Hijabs are going high-end!

Pricey fashion label Dolce & Gabbana revealed its first collection to “celebrate the inimitable dolce vita that is distinct to us in the Arab world,” according to the Italian designer’s website.

The line, revealed Sunday, features the designer’s take on garb often worn by Muslim women, including abayas, the full-length dresses, and hijabs, the head scarves.

The collection comes in understated tones, such as black and beige, with touches of the fashion house’s signature Sicilian flair, including printed roses, daisies and lemons, according to Style.com/Arabia. The abayas and hijabs come in sheer georgette and satin weave charmeuse fabrics, and include lace detailing, the site reported.

Prices for the new collection were not immediately available, but Dolce & Gabbana dresses range from $695 to $7,000 at Bergdorf Goodman.

In July, Stefano Gabbana proclaimed he is “really fascinated with the Middle East,” as he hinted about the new collection.
