Chain-snatchers ripped a Virgin Mary pendant off a woman’s neck in University Heights, police said.

A man was caught on surveillance video at around 5 p.m. June 20 as he and a cohort approached the 56-year-old victim at Webster Avenue and East 179th Street.

He allegedly grabbed a gold chain with the religious figure, and ran with his partner in crime south on Webster Avenue.

The pal was wearing a white tank top, sweat pants and a bucket hat.


A University Heights MetroPCS store was ripped off twice by two different employees in the same month, cops said.

One worker, Michael Santiago, 33, was seen on surveillance video taking $1,295 out of the cash register at around 8:30 p.m. on June 14, according to cops.

The money was supposed to be deposited into a safe inside the store but instead, he was seen on camera allegedly slipping it into his pocket.

The store, located on Jerome Avenue near West 183rd Street, was hit by another employee on June 25, cops said.

The second worker, Miguel Vasquez, who is in his 20s, allegedly took $2,700 out of the cash drawer at around 8 p.m. and left.

It wasn’t until the second theft that the store found out about the first one, sources said.

Both men were still being sought by police.


Brooklyn

He got a free ride . . . to court.

A man who hailed a cab in Bushwick, then passed out drunk and refused to pay for the ride, ended up in front of a judge, authorities said.

Douglas Canty, 43, jumped into the taxi on Central Avenue at around 5:05 a.m. Sunday and promptly passed out, according to a Criminal Court complaint.

When the cab arrived at Canty’s destination, the driver could not wake him up, the court papers state.

When the cabby finally roused the inebriated rider and asked for $10, Canty allegedly replied, “F- – k you! Take me to jail!”

The driver complied, calling cops, and Canty was booked on a charge of theft of services, according to a spokeswoman for the district attorney.


A 25-year-old man was shot in the back in Crown Heights early Monday morning, cops said.

The victim was in front of an apartment building on Buffalo Avenue near Prospect Place at 1:35 a.m., when he heard gunshots and started running, he told cops.

He was struck twice in the back and once in the arm, officials said.

The wounded man was rushed to Brookdale Hospital in serious condition.

It was not immediately clear if he was the intended target, police said.


Manhattan

A man threatened to bomb the Gansevoort Park Avenue hotel in Midtown on Sunday night, authorities said.

James Goff, 56, allegedly told an employee “A bomb will go off tonight or tomorrow over here” at around 7 p.m.

It was unclear whether Goff was staying at the establishment, although he has listed hotels and motels as addresses in the past, records show.

Goff was charged with falsely reporting an incident, according to court records.


Police are looking for a man who randomly attacked a stranger with an umbrella in Chelsea.

The assailant, who is about 50 years old, 5-foot-7 and 160 pounds, poked a 64-year-old man several times with the umbrella at around 7:20 a.m. on July 15 at the corner of West 26th Street and Eighth Avenue.

It was not clear what set off the attacker.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was treated for a cut to his elbow.


Staten Island

Police have identified a man suspected of attempting to strangle a woman, and then stabbing a good Samaritan who tried to help her, on an Annadale street.

John Matthews, 34, was strangling and hitting the unidentified woman in front of a home on Sneden Avenue at around 3:30 a.m. on June 27, police said.

A 36-year-old man who was driving past stopped his vehicle and tried to aid the woman, cops said.

Matthews pulled a screwdriver from his pocket and stabbed the stranger several times before fleeing, authorities said.

The man was taken to Staten Island North Hospital, while the woman refused medical attention, authorities said.

Matthews is 5-foot-11 and 160-pounds.

He was last seen driving a burgundy Lexus G3300.
