Gwen Stefani makes ‘The Voice’ exciting again

Join us in praising “The Voice” for hiring its two new grade-A celebrity music mentors — Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams — for the fall season. The show will roll out the red carpet for its two new superstars, who will perform live on tonight’s show. Pharrell — a Grammy Award winner and Oscar nominee — will perform his new single “Come Get It Babe” from his current album “Girl,” and Stefani will perform her No. 1 single “Hollaback Girl” from her debut solo album, “Love. Angel. Music. Baby”

Here’s why we’re so excited about Gwen:

She’s a Fashion Star

We really tune in to see what the stars are wearing on these talent competitions. Jennifer Lopez currently owns the sartorial department on “American Idol,” but we thinking Gwen’s edgy style can surpass hers. The 44-year-old mom of three couldn’t put together a bad outfit if you paid her. Expect a glimpse of her expansive shoe collection, a luxurious range of red lipsticks, and a slew of funky blonde punked-out hairstyles.

She’ll Switch Up the Dynamic

The rivalry between Blake Shelton and Adam Levine is getting a little old, no? Blake tweeted Adam’s cellphone number recently; no doubt, Adam will retaliate. We’re just over the high school pranks. Hopefully, Gwen’s calm demeanor will keep the boys in line. Her friendship with Pharrell, who’s produced several of her hits, will no doubt shake things up.
She’ll Become our TV Friend
Gwen Stefani guards her privacy so fiercely; point proven when she kept her last pregnancy a secret until she was well into her second trimester. We’ll finally get to see her open up, and hear her in her speaking voice. Do you even know what that sounds like?

She Knows Her Music

“The Voice” is spot-on when picking musicians who deserve to be there. Gwen has certainly earned her place at the mentors’ table with worldwide sales of 30 million records, and a successful solo career which produced addictive hits like “Holla Back Girl” and “Hey Baby.” The contestants should consider themselves lucky.

She’ll Get Inspired

Just putting it out there: we need another Gwen Stefani solo record. If you haven’t listened to “Love. Angel. Music. Baby,” then you need to head to Spotify right now. Here’s to hoping she’ll get inspired by the contestants, and want to drop a new album of her own.
