‘Sherlock’ opener way up & other TV news

Logo is celebrating Sunday night’s Grammy Awards in its own unique way — with “The Grannies,” a marathon of “The Golden Girls” episodes featuring the best musical numbers from the eight-season run of the NBC series (1985-92). The marathon will air Sunday from 4 to 7:30 p.m.

More programming news: Dr. M. Sanjayan will host a five-part series on PBS called “Earth — A New Wild,” which will air in the spring of 2015 and will be shot in 29 different countries (hence the way-in-the-future airdate). Speaking of PBS, the third-season premiere of “Sherlock” averaged 4 million viewers Sunday night — up 25 percent over last season’s opener (3.2 million) — while the third episode of “Downton Abbey” snared 8.4 million viewers after falling to 7.9 million the previous week. “Abbey” opened with a series record 10.2 million viewers on Jan. 5.

Meanwhile, former “Sopranos” co-star Vince Curatola (Johnny Sack), who’s already appeared on “The Good Wife,” has shot two more episodes for the CBS drama — and is about to shoot three more (he plays a judge). Curatola has also appeared on “Elementary.”

And “Scandal”/ “Web Therapy” co-star Dan Bucatinsky has released a version of his novel, “Does This Baby Make Me Look Straight?,” on audible.com. “Scandal” returns to ABC’s schedule Feb. 27.
