Robert Kraft brags about Revis taking less to join Patriots

ORLANDO, Fla. — Patriots owner Robert Kraft was in a crowing mood here Monday on the addition of former Jets star Darrelle Revis.

Speaking to reporters on the first day of the NFL owners meetings, Kraft bragged that New England was able to sign the All-Pro cornerback even though Revis essentially took a pay cut to become a Patriot.

Revis signed what amounts to a one-year, $12 million deal with the Jets’ bitter rival this month after making $16 million with the Buccaneers last season before Tampa Bay released him after one year.

“Here’s a young man who had his choice of going to any team in the NFL he wanted, and he came to us. He could have gotten considerable more money going to other teams, but he still came to us,” Kraft said.

Kraft said the reason for Revis’ decision wasn’t hard to guess after Revis endured a 4-12 season with Tampa Bay last year and couldn’t get past the AFC Championship game as a Jet.

“I think he knows we’re committed to winning as an organization, I really believe his priority is trying to win,” Kraft said.
