Let’s hope that Mickey Rourke has better taste in real estate than fashion.
Rourke — who was recently spotted queueing up in Moscow for a T-shirt sporting the ferocious mug of autocratic thug Vladimir Putin — is back in New York and looking for apartments with Citi Habitats broker and fellow thespian John Enos III, whose credits include “The Young and the Restless.”
Rourke, who was in town to promote the film “Sin City: A Dame To Kill For,” is hoping to find a long-term rental in the city — and his neighborhood of choice is Chelsea.
One of the rentals he looked at was at 148 W. 28th St., a full-floor gut-renovated three-bedroom with an open chef’s kitchen that was asking $11,750 a month, but the listing broker, Citi Habitats’ Nathaniel Faust, rented it to someone else.
Since then, Rourke has looked at another Faust listing that hit the market this week at 14 E. 33rd St. and is renting for $10,000 per month.
The bid sleep
Lauren Bacall’s longtime home at the Dakota apartment building will be going on the market shortly. It was recently appraised, just before her death, at around $9 million.
Bacall bought the unit for $48,000 in 1961 and remained there until the day she died.
Bacall lived there with her second husband, Jason Robards, Jr. — after her first hubby, Humphrey Bogart, died — and raised her children here. Boris Karloff, Judy Holliday and Roberta Flack were her neighbors — it was a haven for artists before finance types.
“There were other show people,” Bacall told the New York Times in 2005. “Everyone used to know each other. It was a much warmer place. New York was a much more exciting city when it wasn’t all about money.”
Crucifixer-upper
Talk about an altar ego! For the millionaire who has everything, here’s a church that can be converted into a home — all it needs is the right zoning.
The 4,400-square-foot church, located in Southold on the North Fork, comes with a full basement, kitchen and two half-bathrooms, plus on-site parking. There’s also a 2,400-square-foot parsonage next door.
The property can be rezoned into a single-family residence as long as the town of Southold approves. It’s listed for $1.699 million and sits on just over an acre of land.
The church is merging with a Cutchogue church to create a new building “more suited to meet the needs of the community,” Pastor Tom McLeod tells us.
The property’s listing brokers are Thomas Uhlinger and Kristy Naddell of Douglas Elliman.
