Manziel facing police probe as dad fears for QB’s life

Johnny Manziel won’t get the help his family desperately wants him to get.

Manziel’s father, Paul, told the Dallas Morning News that he twice tried to get Manziel into a rehab facility this past week as the controversial quarterback spirals out of control.

“I truly believe if they can’t get him help, he won’t live to see his 24th birthday,” Paul Manziel told the paper the day after the frightening details of his encounter with ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley emerged.

The family attempted to get him into the Enterhealth Ranch on Saturday, but he left the facility. The same happened at Carrollton Springs Hospital, according to the paper.

Manziel, 23, entered rehab last offseason, but quickly fell back into his partying ways this season and it has only gotten worse since he went AWOL on the Browns before the team’s final game.

Manziel was also dumped by his agent on Friday morning.

“It is with deep regret that, after several emotional and very personal discussions with his family, his doctors, and my client himself, I have made the decision to terminate my professional relationship with Johnny Manziel,” Erik Burkhardt said. “Though I will remain a friend and Johnny supporter, and he knows I have worked tirelessly to arrange a number of professional options for him to continue to pursue, it has become painfully obvious that his future rests solely in his own hands.

“His family and I have gone to great lengths to outline the steps we feel he must take to get his life in order. Accountability is the foundation of any relationship, and without it the function of my work is counterproductive. I truly wish the best for Johnny and sincerely hope he can, and will, find the kind of peace and happiness he deserves.”

According to a Dallas TV station, the troubled Browns quarterback told Colleen Crowley “shut up or I’ll kill us both,” struck her several times — including on the ear — and seemed to be on drugs during an alleged altercation in Dallas last Saturday.

Crowley returned to her apartment in Fort Worth, Texas, and used help from a neighbor to call 9-1-1, while Manziel fled from the scene on foot as Fort Worth police dispatched a helicopter to search for him out of concern for his safety.

Dallas police said Friday night that they received a complaint and were investigating.

“I’m completely stable,” Manziel told TMZ on Thursday after the details emerged. “I’m safe and secure.”

Manziel said he has “great things coming ahead,” though he wouldn’t elaborate.

“I know I’ve been having fun, but I just need to get my body right,” he said. “I’m 100 percent committed to playing football.”

The Browns indicated they will cut Manziel in March.
