Brooks Wheelan says he was ‘fired’ from ‘SNL’

The cast of “Saturday Night Live” just got a little less white male-centric.

Cast member Brooks Wheelan announced Monday night on Twitter that after one season, he will not be returning.

Wheelan’s impressions on the variety series included Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto.

Other one-season wonders on the show have included Casey Wilson, Billy Crystal, Sarah Silverman, Jenny Slate and Robert Downey Jr.

“SNL” came under fire last year when Wheelan was announced as one of five white guys added to the cast at the same time, prompting Lorne Michaels to hire African American cast member Sasheer Zamata midseason.

No word yet on whether a new white male will be added in Wheelan’s place.
