Suspect turns himself in after deadly beating of tourist

A teen who fatally punched an Italian tourist during a dispute outside a Bronx bodega Friday has turned himself in to cops, authorities said.

Suspect Brownie Lopez-Hidalgo, 19, surrendered to police at the 48th Precinct in The Bronx around 5 p.m. Sunday, officials said.

He was charged with assault, they said.

Lopez-Hidalgo had been sought for allegedly punching Oliver D’Orio, 37, outside Guerrero Bodega on Washington Avenue and East 184th Street, causing D’Orio to fall and hit his head on the pavement.

D’Orio — who had been pestering passers-by to buy him a beer — was later pronounced dead at St. Barnabas Hospital.

D’Orio was described as an Italian citizen living in Switzerland and in The Bronx visiting a girlfriend.

Lopez-Hidalgo is from Grand Avenue in The Bronx.
