Boy in stable condition after getting struck by car

An 8-year-old boy was hit by a car as he tried to cross a Brooklyn Street Friday.

“I heard a thump. It was pretty hard,” said McKenzie Small, 37, a street vendor who saw the little boy lying in the street after the 6 p.m. accident.

“ He was laying on his stomach. He wasn’t moving at all.

“People were screaming and crying, ‘Oh my God, it’s a child! It’s a child!’”

Two cops on foot patrol nearby used their radios to call for help and an ambulance rushed the child to Kings County Hospital, where doctors said he was in stable condition.

The driver remained on the scene and “got out of the car to see if the boy was okay,’’ Small said. No charges were filed.

Police sources and witnesses said the boy was crossing Fulton Street near Utica Avenue in Crown Heights against the lights and was not in a crosswalk.

No charges were filed.
