It’s greasy— with a side of glitzy.
Manhattan’s first-ever Denny’s restaurant is serving up a swanky spin on low-end diner grub — complete with a $300 breakfast that pairs Grand Slams with bottles of Dom Perignon champagne.
The yellow-signed diner most often found next to freeway exits in Middle America opens in the Financial District on Friday — featuring a “craft cocktail” menu, flat-screen TVs and leather booths.
It hopes to cater to the Wall Street crowd but keep prices low, said franchise owner Rahul Marwah.
“You’re not just in a Denny’s — you’re in a Manhattan Denny’s,” Marwah said of the diner, which is located on Nassau Street near Spruce Street.
“We built such a high-end restaurant in terms of the decor and atmosphere but . . . it’s very affordable,” he said.
Aside from Denny’s classic greasy spoon menu, suckers for the skillet can pair breakfasts with fancy cocktails such as a $9 “house” Bloody Mary, an Aperol Spritz or a Bellini.
Big spenders can fork over $300 for the “Grand Cru Slam” breakfast, which includes two Grand Slam breakfasts, a vintage bottle of 2003 Dom Perignon Premier Cru champagne and a “bartender high-five.”
“We wanted to educate them in craft-cocktail culture,” said Mike Capoferri, 28, creative bar consultant for the diner.
But neighbors — some of whom opposed plans for the restaurant, citing noise — said they would never blow hundreds of dollars at a diner.
“I feel like there are other, better places to go, but it’s convenient. I’m a college student — I wouldn’t order the $300 brunch special. Maybe Wall Street people who are craving diner food would,” said Sarah Lord, 21, who attends nearby Pace University.
