‘Sharknado 2’ takes a bite out of Citi Bikers

“Sharknado 2” is catering to New Yorkers who dream of wiping out obnoxious Citi Bikers — by acting out the fantasy in the most outrageous possible way.

A just-released teaser for the campy made-for-TV movie features a scene in which a rule-breaking Citi Bike rider gets squashed by a giant shark that falls from the sky.

The sneak-peak shows the cyclist would have been able to dodge the terrifying Whale Shark — which is hurled at her due to a storm — if she had simply been riding on the street, instead of the sidewalk, as the law requires of cyclists.

Director Anthony C. Ferrante, who shot the scene on Wall Street, said he featured Citi Bikes in the flick because New Yorkers would probably really use them, if a real storm ever rained flesh-chomping sharks onto the Big Apple.

“We had planned to have a huge flood chasing after people on Citi Bikes … but at the end of the day the gag was: She gets killed on a Citi Bike!” Ferrante said.

“If people want to read into it then, yes, she was riding on the sidewalk — she was breaking the law! She deserved to die!” he quipped.

He added, “Sharks can be great enforcers.”

In the scene, a main character, who he wouldn’t name, meets her maker while trying to escape the storm.

“There are only so many ways you can kill people with sharks. You have to start getting creative. We thought using a Citi Bike would be great… And it seems like it worked. People are talking about it,” Ferrante said.

The sequel to the made-for-TV hit, “Sharknado,” is set in New York and also features scenes in the subway, on Liberty Island and in Times Square.

The original “Sharknado” centers on a storm that slams into California, raining a tornado of sharks onto unsuspecting surfer-types.

It earned a cult-like following last year and starred Ian Ziering of “Beverly Hills: 90210” and Tara Reid of “American Pie.”

Featuring bikes, instead of just cars, was partly a set design choice, he said.

“We started coming up with set pieces and Citi Bike popped out as one of those iconographic New York things . It’s how people would actually get around during a storm,” he said.

The sequel is “even more ridiculous” than the original, according to Entertainment Weekly.

SyFy will air the sequel on July 31.
