Man claims father was Zodiac Killer in memoir

A Louisiana man is claiming to have discovered the true identity of the Zodiac Killer — his father.

In a memoir due out Tuesday after months of being kept secret, Gary L. Stewart names his father, who had a criminal record in San Francisco, as the man who murdered at least five people in Northern California in the late ’60s, according to New York magazine.

The book, “The Most Dangerous Animal of All,” has apparently been kept under wraps with little publicity. It was promoted online as a “memoir of a man whose 10-year search for his biological father leads to a chilling discovery.”

The book was vetted by HarperCollins’ lawyers who stand by its claims, a publicist there told the mag.

“He didn’t want to believe,” said the publicist, Tina Andreadis. “I don’t think most people want to know that their father is a notorious serial killer.”

The identity of Stewart’s father was not revealed Monday. It was unclear if law enforcement had taken action.
