Commuters heading to New Jersey through the Holland Tunnel face major delays during Tuesday’s rush hour after a 1-foot hole was found in a nearby Jersey City ramp.
Repairs began about 2 p.m. on the bridge ramp, which leads to the Newark Bay Hudson County extension of the New Jersey Turnpike, authorities said.
Cars are being diverted on Routes 1 and 9, which go over the Pulaski Skyway, according to a New Jersey Turnpike Authority spokesman.
The Skyway has been undergoing a massive rehabilitation in the northbound lanes, but drivers heading away from Manhattan won’t be affected.
The repairs on the ramp are expected to go into the night.
