New York City flops in recent jobs survey

What’s next — oohing and aahing over the pizza in Phoenix?

WalletHub, which touts itself as a social media site centering on personal financial topics, ranked New York City — the nation’s capital of arts, finance and, yes, pizza — one of the worst places to find a job in the country.

That’s right, folks! The Big Apple ranked 59 out of 60 large cities reviewed by WalletHub.com for job opportunities.

The only place harder to find a job is Los Angeles, it said.

Here are some of WalletHub’s reasons for dissing NYC:
• We work too hard. NYC ranked 60th for the length of our workday.
• It cost too much to live here. We ranked 58th in real estate affordability (Isn’t Mayor de Blasio working on that?)
•What’s left to spend after paying rent is too little. NYC ranked 57th in average annual income, adjusted for cost of living.
•Too many people, not enough jobs. The Big Apple ranked 52nd in job openings per capita.
•The taxes are too damn high! We ranked 60th for state and local taxes.

The WalletHub survey did find that NYC starting salaries are fourth-best in the country.

But would you rather live in Ft. Worth, Texas? That is the best place to look for a job, according to WalletHub.

“Fort Worth boasts the nation’s 5th fastest-falling unemployment rate, the 4th largest proportion of full-time employees, and the 2nd most affordable housing,” WalletHub said.
