Cronut bakery hit by ‘mouse infestation’

Authorities Friday shuttered trendy Soho bakery Dominique Ansel – known for kicking off the Cronut craze – after a grossed out patron filmed a mouse scurrying across the floor and sent it to reporters.

“The establishment was closed by the department because of a severe mouse infestation that requires professional pest control services,” a spokesman for the health department told The Post.

Cronut lovers who showed up to the 189 Spring St. bakery for their sugar fix Thursday were turned away by a sign stating “Closed by Order of the Commissioner of Health and Mental Hygiene.”

Some fans of the delicious treat – a hybrid of a croissant and donut filled with crème – were revolted to learn their beloved bakery was overrun with rodents.

“That is so gross and disgusting” said CeCe Jones, 34, of Miami, Florida. “I was gonna pick up breakfast from there with a group of my girlfriends. I’m a frequent Cronut eater.”

A rep for the bakery said they wouldn’t open again until Monday.

“We had a customer who took a video of one mouse that ran across the bakery floor and sent it as a tip to journalists without informing our staff,” the rep told The Post. “After an entire night of deep cleaning [and not finding any mice] we were visited by not one, but four health department inspectors today.”

The rep added, “Most bakeries would’ve been given a second inspection and would not have been shut down for this.”

The staff went through a deep cleaning session that lasted seven hours Thursday and the bakery’s award-winning chef even got on his knees to search for the offending critter.

The bakery has received an “A” health grade since opening in 2011, the rep said.
