Jason Dalton was arrested by Michigan State Police shortly after 12:45 a.m. following a massive manhunt, WZZM 13 reported. He had weapons in his car, the station reported.

“The threat to the public is over,” said Paul Matyas, of the Kalamazoo County Police.

Police believe Dalton is responsible for the shooting spree that began at a parking lot at a Richland Township apartment complex around 6 p.m. Saturday, where a woman was shot four times and is currently in serious condition.

About four hours later, shots rang out at Seeyle Kia, a car dealership 15 miles from the first shooting, leaving a father and son dead.

Five more people, including a 14-year-old girl, were sprayed with bullets in the parking lot of a Cracker Barrel off of Interstate 94 at about 10:15 p.m. Four of those victims died and the teenager is “gravely” injured, according to Kalamazoo County Prosecutor Jeff Getting.

It is still unclear why Dalton went on the rampage, and if he has any connection to any of the victims, officials said.

“These are random murders,” Matyas said.

Kalamazoo is about 160 miles from Detroit.
