Torrential downpours wreak havoc around New York City

The city was walloped by torrential downpours that soaked unprepared strollers and left vehicles sputtering on impassable roads.

Massive thunderstorms moved into the five boroughs early in the afternoon and continued to plague the Big Apple into the evening.

Mother Nature was unrelenting, with rain and wind knocking out power in some neighborhoods for a time.

More storms and flooding were predicted for Wednesday morning, with showers and thunderstorms finally tapering off in the afternoon.

The local temperature Wednesday is expected to top out at around 81 degrees, according to AccuWeather.

And waterlogged New Yorkers at least have the next couple of days — including Saturday — to look forward to.

Sunny to partly cloudy skies are predicted Thursday through Saturday.
