Weird But True

The agonizing ‘Sexy And I Know It’ parody produced by Microsoft

In what could be the most cringing, shuddering acts of geekery our poor eyes have been subjected to, those studs over at Microsoft have created a parody video of LMFAO’s “Sexy and I Know It.”

To promote Microsoft’s OneNote product, the clip changes the song’s words to “Click it and I Note It” and much like this dreadful play on words, the video is truly, truly awful.

If you managed to get past six seconds of the clip without wanting to put your head into a blender then you would have seen a crew of dorky OneNote engineers dancing about in an attempt to copy LMFAO while showing off their product. Except they do it in hilarious tutus and Star Trek costumes.

In an effort we wouldn’t expect to see even from a group of oddball high school drama students, this parody was neither funny, nor so bad it was ironically worth a chuckle.

OK, we can see what you’re trying to do. But this painful effort to give a brand a bit of charisma or humor has only managed to widen the gap between Google and Apple’s cool factor.

We’re not the only ones to think so, either. The very people who made the video tried to pull the clip from the internet almost immediately. Microsoft even deleted Tweets mentioning how they deleted it.

Perhaps they were sensing the looming sandstorm of abuse coming their way.

Well, they were right. We’ve given them ours now we’re off to wash our brains with steel wool and vinegar. Bad Microsoft.
