Rikers inmates riot after being sent to bed with no TV

Horndog prisoners at Rikers Island went muy loco Monday night — when they rioted because new bedtime rules forced them to miss their favorite sexy Latin soap opera.

Hardened jailbirds at Rikers’ “high security” George Vierno wing flipped out when they learned that they would not get to see Telemundo’s steamy telenovela “En Otra Piel” — or “In Another Skin” — because they have to hit the sack at 9 p.m.

Featuring the randy adventures of a smooth-talking gigolo, the show is so popular that even inmates who don’t speak Spanish watch it just to see the program’s Latina lovelies romp across the screen in skimpy outfits.

“It’s Telemundo soft porn,” a Department of Corrections source said. “They went nuts because they are being locked up at 9 p.m. and missing all of their favorite TV shows.”

The inmates were so furious at having to miss their daily dose of South of the Border smut that guards had to pepper spray them to quell their uprising. Sources said that some 68 -deprived thugs participated in the riot.

“Rikers is on the brink,” the source said. “It’s completely out of control. Inmates are running the asylum.”

Rikers’ bedtime was switched from 11 p.m. to 9 p.m. to quell violence at the city jail, as many attacks were happening in that two-hour window, The Post first reported last week.

This forces inmates to miss the prime-time TV shows that they love to watch huddled around flat-screen TVs in the common areas.

On Monday, for instance, the jailbirds were also forced to miss other favorites, such as CBS’s “Under the Dome” and ABC’s “Mistresses.”

The early bedtime enrages inmates who have been on a set schedule for years— and don’t have much to look forward to, the corrections source added.

“Some of them have been there a long time and the new rule is confusing to them,” the source said.

He added, “They don’t have enough to do anyway and now brass is taking away nightly TV privileges.”

No guards were injured in the Telemundo riot — but violence against them is on the rise, a corrections source said.

Meanwhile, the jail implemented the new 9 p.m. bedtime last week in the female unit — and got no backlash.
