Woman goes on salon rampage over ‘knotty’ hairdo

It was a really bad hair day!

A Financial District salon customer was so upset that her hair was left “knotty” by her stylist that she threw everything in sight at the woman – including hair curlers, shampoo bottles and a metal box, cops said Wednesday.

Rachel Meyers, 26, a mail carrier, popped into Century 27 salon on Beaver Street on her lunch break on July 18 to get a conditioning treatment and wash and set.

She screamed that the stylist “screwed up her hair” and turned violent, accidentally smashing customer Joy Browne, 52, in the knee with a curling iron stand.

Meyers, who lives in Chelsea, was arrested around 3:20 p.m. and charged with assault, harassment and criminal possession of a weapon.

Salon owner Favi Ramirez said they squeezed in Meyers for a last-minute appointment to fix her tangled hair, which “looked deceivingly fine.”

“She came in with knots. She took off her weave herself at her house. It didn’t even look tangled,” said Ramirez.

A stylist began working on Meyers’ hair, but when another client came in, she became belligerent.

“She was not okay waiting two seconds, so she flipped out,” said Ramirez. “We didn’t do any damage to the lady’s hair.”

Browne, who lives in Battery Park, suffered a cut to her right knee and bruises but refused medical attention.

The salon lost business that day because of the wild fracas but Ramirez said she still felt bad for Meyers.

“I feel like the girl has been through enough,” she said. “She spent the weekend in jail and she lost her job.”

The 5-1 aspiring model, who calls herself Fox Starr, sports straight, shoulder length hair in her Facebook photos. She struck a seductive post in a pink bikini on website Model Mayhem, where she wrote, “I have been told by many people that I should try modeling. I would like to model more swim wear, business attire, and maybe lingerie.”
