A couple in New Jersey is heartbroken after burglars ransacked their home and made off with their 1-year-old puppy.
Once they finished cleaning out the jewelry box and swiping some electronics, the thieves decided to snatch Pepper, a black, gray and white schnauzer-poodle mix.
Barbara August told Channel 4 that they broke into their Somerset house on Tuesday afternoon while she and her husband weren’t home.
“I’m devastated — I keep thinking I’m seeing her,” August said. “They could have locked her in the bathroom, locked her in her crate, and done whatever they wanted, but why did they have to take my dog — she’s my baby.”
Police were able to trace the stolen electronics to a neighborhood in New Brunswick, where August believes her pup may be located.
