Brooklyn boy beaten by school bullies: lawsuit

A Brooklyn sixth-grader was assaulted by classmates while staffers at IS 104 in Bay Ridge looked the other way, a lawsuit alleges.

The boy, then 12, was repeatedly “punched in the genitals” by eight bullies in a bathroom in an attack so violent, it put him in the hospital for three days, his family claims in a lawsuit against the city and the Department of Education.

The boy, identified as “John Doe” in the Brooklyn Supreme Court papers, claims his screams for help during the May 2012 attack were ignored.

Even though he was “crying and visibly hurt” when he “limped” back to the lunchroom, two staffers who saw him never even asked if he was OK, according to the legal claim.

The boy was taken to a hospital by ambulance after his mom learned of the injuries and brought him to his family doctor, who decided the injuries needed emergency medical attention.

The child now sees a urology specialist regularly to monitor the damage caused by the attacks, attorney Tahanie Aboushi said.

It was the second such attack on the boy by the same bullies in two years, according to the lawsuit.

The family is seeking $1 million in damages for the school’s alleged negligence and failure to control the bullies. The city says it will review the allegations.
