What’s with Caroline Wozniacki and all these brutal, brusque snubs?
The Danish tennis star, dumped by golfer fiance Rory McIlroy over the phone, was dissed by opponent Camila Giorgi with a clipped handshake-and-run after Wozniacki won their match Thursday at a Wimbledon warmup tournament in Eastbourne, England.
Giorgi, a young Italian who has a reputation on the tour for petulance and reportedly had a few calls go against her during the match, approaches for the customary congratulations at net at breakneck speed, offers an abbreviated shake and then books for the exit.
Wozniacki, a bit stunned, can only smile at the cold shoulder.
The 23-year-old has not been smiling much since McIlroy called off their engagement last month in stunning and public fashion. Her “comeback” continues Monday at the start of Wimbledon, where she is the No. 16 seed.
