Probst Emmy Snub

Survivor
” host Jeff Probst is shunning the Emmys this year after hearing the award for Best Reality Show Host has been moved off the Aug. 29 telecast.

Probst has won the award the last two years and is nominated again this year.

But this year, the award will be presented a week earlier with the technical Emmys at an industry dinner — not on the NBC telecast.

“It’s disappointing news,” Probst told The Hollywood Reporter yesterday. “Collectively, this category represents several of the highest-rated and most popular shows on all of television.”

CBS’ boss of reality programs, Jen Bresnan, called it “the latest slap in the face to the genre.”

Probst, who will be taping “Survivor” in Nicaragua then, had made arrangements to fly back for the NBC show. But “it’s too late now” to change the show’s schedule so he can come back a week earlier, he said.
