Jets’ defense orders breakfast feast at Cortland diner

Call them Gang Green eggs and ham — a heckuva lot of eggs and ham!

A dozen members of the New York Jets’ defensive line gave new meaning to the term “breakfast of champions” at an upstate diner last Saturday — when they went on a Broadway-size binge and downed a whopping 48 meals between them.

The massive linemen fulfilled their culinary quest at Hairy Tony’s gastro pub in Cortland during a training- camp break.

“They wanted to come down for breakfast, and they just started ordering everything off the menu,” owner Tony Caruso told The Post.

“It was just a funny thing. The kitchen was cracking up. They were just sending out end less food to this table.”

The football feast included 12 orders of bananas foster pancakes, three orders of steak and eggs, four omelets, three orders of French toast, one fruit crepe, four side orders of eggs — and way too many apple-cinnamon and buttermilk pancakes to count.

And while no player actually ordered any ham, a number of them ordered hamburgers — along with nachos, french fries and chicken wings, of course.

“They were ordering hamburgers and chicken wings for breakfast!” said a laughing Caruso.

The bananas foster pancakes were the biggest hit with the linemen, who had just finished an admittedly tough practice.

“One guy ordered bananas foster and was wiping up everything on his plate, and the other guys all started going crazy about it and wanted to order it, too,” Caruso said.

The final order was about four meals per person — and the tab came to $225.

It was picked up by star nose guard Kris Jenkins, who wanted to take his linemates out for a “bonding” meal.

He left a $75 tip.

“They were good to the staff,” Caruso said. “They just ate a lot of food. They were great guys.

“I hope they come again.”

Jenkins must have worked up quite a hunger while winning a recent weight-loss contest vs. coach Rex Ryan and offensive tackle Damien Woody.

Having lost 33.3 pounds, Jenkins weighed in at a relatively svelte 359.

Earlier this year, when he was unable to exercise after undergoing knee surgery, he had reached 390.

Jenkins made headlines when he announced he planned to lose the weight by going on a “cookie diet.”

People laughed — but he lost 20 pounds in just a few months.
