Randall Lane, the author of a controversial new book that accuses baseball star turned disgraced stock guru Lenny Dykstra of securities scamming, is being threatened with a lawsuit, The Post has learned.
Lane, the former Forbes bureau chief and editor-at-large for media site The Daily Beast has been issued a cease and desist order by Corona, Calif.-based vending company, AVT.
AVT founder Shannon Illingworth, according to “The Zeroes: My Misadventures In The Decade Wall Street Went Insane,” gave Dykstra 250,000 shares of company stock in exchange for Dykstra promoting AVT in the former ballplayer’s newsletter, published by TheStreet.com.
“Please be advised that your statements and other allegations. . . are incorrect and based upon false information,” the AVT letter reads. Lane told The Post that he stands by the book “in its entirety.”
