Bam turns to Bubba as presidency is going bust

WASHINGTON — Bubba is back in the House!

Desperate to put the brakes on his startling political free-fall, President Obama has called on the only man in America who might be able to save his skin: Bill Clinton.

But bringing the former president back never comes without a price.

Obama summoned Clinton yesterday for an unscheduled visit to the White House for a discussion with top business leaders on how to create jobs in the private sector.

This comes as a new poll shows 13 percent of Americans say Obama’s wildly expensive economic plans have helped them. If there is any Democrat in the world who understands that it is always the economy, stupid, it’s Clinton.

It was the second time in recent weeks that worried White House officials have rolled out the searchlights and illuminated the stormy skies overhead with the Bubba Signal.

Previously, the White House huddled with Clinton adviser Doug Band to map out states where Clinton’s campaigning for November elections would be most helpful now that Obama’s approval ratings are in the tank.

That is practically all 50 states these days.

In less than two years, Obama has gone from having the Midas Touch to a leper.

But deploying Clinton never comes without baggage.

No one will forget his red-faced, finger-wagging rages on the campaign trail that some say cost his wife the White House in 2008.

It does not help that so many of those scorching tirades were aimed directly at Obama and certainly contained Clinton’s true feelings about the guy — no matter how buddy-buddy they try to be today.

If there are any doubts about how much trouble Clinton can cause, one need look no further than Florida.

The White House’s best hope for the Senate is independent Gov. Charlie Crist.

But Clinton’s supporting Rep. Kendrick Meek, who backed wife Hillary over Obama in 2008.
