Abbey Rd. ‘sited’

LONDON — The most famous pedestrian crossing in popular music, Abbey Road, was designated yesterday a British site of national importance.

The north London crossing, on the Beatles’ Abbey Road album cover, is “no castle or cathedral but, thanks to the Beatles and a 10-minute photo shoot one August morning in 1969,” is also part of our proud “heritage,” said Britain’s minister for tourism and heritage.
