Rangers open in LA vs. champs

The Rangers will open up against the defending champions in Hollywood.

For the second straight season, the Blueshirts will start up with the Kings on Oct. 12, this time in Los Angeles after meeting them last year in Stockholm, Sweden. The NHL announced its 2012- 13 schedule yesterday,contingent on there not being a work stoppage.

After playing the Kings, the Blue Shirts will play seven more road games. Thanks to stage two of the renovation of Madison Square Garden, their home opener won’t be until Nov. 1 against the Dallas Stars.

The Rangers will meet every NHL team at least once next season. They will play Atlantic Division foes the Devils, Islanders, Penguins and Flyers six times apiece.

The Devils open Oct. 12 at the Capitals. Their home opener will be Oct. 13 against the Bruins. The Islanders will drop the puck Oct. 12 in Pittsburgh and open at home Oct. 13 against the Flyers.
