Man critically injured after he faints, falls into subway tracks

A man was seriously injured at the Brooklyn Bridge subway station when he fainted and fell between two train cars as it was pulling into the station, officials said.

The unidentified man was standing on the platform when he passed out and fell in between the first and second cars of a downtown 5 train just as it was slowly pulling into the station around 5:30 p.m., police and MTA officials said.

The man tumbled down to the tracks and suffered serious injuries. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital and is expected to survive.

The incident stunned rush hour commuters, who were packed into the bustling station when the man fell.

“We heard screaming and thought he was dead,” said one horrified woman.

Four and 5 trains were suspended for about an hour Monday before resuming with modified service around 6:30 p.m., MTA officials said.
