Con Ed and union reps negotiating again

Con Ed and the union representing its employees are giving it another try.

Labor talks resumed Thursday. Meanwhile, a noisy union protest continued near Union Square in Manhattan.

The utility announced 5 percent voltage reductions in some Brooklyn neighborhoods. It said crews were making repairs despite the heat wave.

The good news: Residents can still use their air conditioning and other appliances.

The negotiations failed last weekend. On Thursday, the company put out a full page ad blasting the union.

Con Edison has been replacing union workers in the field with managers.
