Furious Farnsworth wants revenge against Mets

Kyle Farnsworth would love to stick it to general manager Sandy Alderson where the sun doesn’t shine.

After the Mets reliever was outrighted to Triple-A Las Vegas Wednesday night — he is expected to decline the assignment and become a free agent — he unleashed on the organization.

Asked about his plans, Farnsworth said, “Hopefully find a team to play against this team.”

He added: “I’m very bitter right now.”

Farnsworth was 0-3 with a 3.18 ERA in 19 appearances for the Mets, serving as the closer for the last three weeks. He said he signed a contract before the season that allowed the Mets to dump him after 45 days without paying him the remainder of his $1 million contract.

Josh Edgin is expected to arrive from Las Vegas to take Farnsworth’s roster spot. Jeurys Familia, Jenrry Mejia and Daisuke Matsuzaka will be manager Terry Collins’ main options at closer with Farnsworth departed.

Farnsworth recorded three save in four chances and had allowed only one run in his last five appearances.

“I did a pretty good job for the opportunity I got,” said Farnsworth, who was summoned from the minors in the first week of the season, after closer Bobby Parnell tore the medial collateral ligament in his right elbow and ultimately underwent Tommy John surgery.

Edgin would join Jenrry Mejia in giving the Mets a fresh face in the bullpen. Jacob deGrom would have been a third new reliever, but the rookie is headed to the rotation — he will make his major league debut Thursday against the Yankees — because Dillon Gee was placed on the disabled list Wednesday with a strained right lat.
