Police open fire on gunman

Cops opened fire on an armed man who pointed a gun at them in Brooklyn, authorities said.

The officers, assigned to Brooklyn North’s Anti-Crime Unit, saw the suspect with a gun on Hindsdale and Snediker avenues in East New York around 3 a.m., Sunday, police said.

As cops closed in, the gunman took off and cops chased after him, officials added. The suspect turned toward police with the weapon in his hand and one officer fired a single shot, cops said.

No one was struck and police caught the suspect. A .45-caliber gun was recovered at the scene, officials added.

The 19-year-old is in custody with charges pending. His name has not been released.
