Michael Sam’s Oprah reality show ‘raises eyebrows’: teammate

One of Michael Sam’s Rams teammates isn’t a big fan of his new show.

Sam, the NFL’s first openly gay player after being drafted by the Rams last week, will do a reality show on Oprah Winfey’s OWN Network, it was announced Wednesday night.

“It’s an interesting case that he gets to work with Oprah and have his own show, but I think it does raise eyebrows and it may be somewhat of a distraction,” the unnamed player told ESPN.

“But this is our first time dealing with something like this, so we’ll have to wait and see how it plays out and how people react.”

Oprah’s cameras were with Sam at his home when he was selected by St. Louis in the seventh round last week and will follow him through training camp for the series. There will be six segments and the working title is “The Untitled Michael Sam Project.”

“If seeing my story helps somebody else accept who they are and to go for their dreams too, that’s great,” Sam said, in a statement. “I am thankful to Oprah for her support and excited to work together.”
