Livery drivers to form neighborhood watch

Livery drivers are going to put the heat on dangerous driving.

The hacks plan to create a neighborhood watch on wheels that looks out for reckless driving and other suspicious street activity, and put advice in bases on defense driving.

They will also launch their own Vision Zero website where passengers can report driver behavior, and the safest drivers will be honored.

The plan will be announced in a City Council town hall Wednesday on Vision Zero at John Jay College — Mayor De Blasio’s plan to end traffic deaths.

Drivers will ask the TLC to reward safe hacks by giving breaks on licensing fees if drivers go two years without points on their licenses.

Carolyn Castro, executive director of the Livery Round Table, said livery drivers are on the road the most every day—and should be rewarded for safety.

“We know that the best way to do this to embrace drivers as assets instead of treating them like enemies,” she said.
