BATTLE ROYALE OVER PRINCE’S BIRTHDAY BASH

Prince William had a nasty showdown with his dad over his plans to take over a London nightclub for his 18th birthday this summer.

British press reports said Prince Charles – fearful the party could erupt in a scandal because of possible drug use by guests – has insisted his son have a party at the family’s Highgrove estate.

But William wants a bash that won’t resemble the staid affairs the royals are used to tossing.

Last year, Charles hit the roof when some members of William’s circle of friends publicly admitted taking illegal drugs.

“William is at a vulnerable age and Charles does not want him spending too much time in the kind of places where drugs may be available,” an insider said.

Sources say the queen may now emerge as peacemaker – by offering to hold the party at Windsor Castle. Senior members of the royal family could attend a party there before a disco is staged for William’s friends.
