Chris Hardwick to host show after ‘Colbert’

After a long search, Comedy Central has finally come up with a new nightly, half-hour to follow Jon Stewart’s “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report.”

Chris Hardwick, a stand-up comedian best known for hosting an after-show series called “Talking Dead” — a companion show that airs following “Walking Dead” — and MTV’s “Singled Out,” will host the new show that is, so far, without a name.

The comedy web site Funny or Die will co-produce the show with Comedy Central, according to a report yesterday in the Hollywood Reporter.

The show, which will air Monday-Thursday at midnight, is set to debut this fall.

Comedy Central has been looking for several years to extend its hold on the large group of (mostly younger) viewers who regularly tune in to Stewart and Colbert rather than Jay Leno or David Letterman.
