Trunk body is ‘missing ma’

Police suspect the woman found strangled in the trunk of her car was a mother of three who vanished two days earlier after leaving her night job as a baker at a Queens Korean food factory, but she has still not been identified yet.

Sources said the body was so mangled it made it difficult to identify the woman, but husband Jae Yun Cha, 43, said police told him they believe it was his wife, Young Joo Byun, 42, in the blue Honda Civic.

“She was very smart, very cute,” Jae sobbed. “I don’t know how to raise my kids without their mom.”

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said the woman left work with “a significant amount of baked goods, which leads us to speculate she was meeting somebody.”

Police have interviewed the woman’s husband several times, and are looking to talk to one of her male friends, law-enforcement sources said. No suspects have been identified yet.
