Shot cop busts gun ‘cohorts’

The Brooklyn cop who survived a bullet to the head returned to the scene of the shooting yesterday to prepare for the trial — and bagged two pals of his alleged assailant in the process, law-enforcement sources told The Post.

Sgt. Kevin Brennan was touring the Bushwick Houses yesterday with prosecutors in advance of the trial of his alleged shooter, Luis Ortiz.

His eagle-eyed former partner, Officer Michael Burbridge, spotted one suspect wanted for a home- invasion robbery two weeks ago on Stanwix Street in Bushwick.

They drove around the block and jumped out of the car, surprising Joseph Roman, 17, and Tyrrell Woods, 23, both members of the Latin Kings street gang and associates of Ortiz, law-enforcement sources said.

Brennan found a loaded 9mm gun in Roman’s waistband, cops said.

“They went to search them before putting them in the car and all of a sudden Kevin is yelling, ‘Hot lunch, hot lunch’ — which means he had a gun,” said another law-enforcement source.

It was Brennan’s first day on the street since he was shot.

“I wasn’t thinking of anything after Mike said they were wanted,” the cop said. “We just grabbed them and it was like old times again.”
