West Side ‘tot slay’ nanny unfit for trial, psychiatrist says

The nanny charged with slashing two kids to death on the Upper West Side is too depressed, psychotic and brain damaged to be fit for trial, a defense psychiatrist argued yesterday.

Yoselyn Ortega, 51, doesn’t even remember killing 6-year-old Lucia and 2-year-old Leo Krim, the shrink testified in a Manhattan courtroom yesterday.

“If you can’t talk to me about what happened on October 25, I can’t help you,” Dr. Karen Rosenbaum said she told Ortega at Elmhurst Hospital.

Two court-appointed psychiatrists had found Ortega fit for trial in April.

The fitness hearing, which continues today, is being held before Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Gregory Carro because the defense has challenged that finding.
