A big F-you from Nets fans likely for Raptors GM

It’s time for Masai Ujiri to face the music.

The Raptors general manager, who took the opening round, best-of-seven playoff series against the Nets to another level when he surprisingly said “F— Brooklyn” at a pep rally to a crowd of several thousand fans outside Air Canada Centre before Game 1, will be Public Enemy No. 1 at Barclays Center for Game 3 on Friday night.

“I told him I wasn’t going to sit next to him or anything like that,” Raptors coach Dwane Casey joked after practice on Thursday. “But he’s fine. He’s seen a lot. He’s going to be OK.”

Ujiri, in his first year as the Toronto GM after serving as the Nuggets GM, was at Barclays Center with the Raptors on Thursday, but declined interview requests. He will be in attendance for Game 3.

Toronto expects a raucous environment Friday night, but it doesn’t seem overly concerned by what should be a boisterous capacity crowd. The Raptors, after all, were tied with the Heat and Wizards for the best road record (22-19) in the Eastern Conference, beating the likes of the Thunder and the Mavericks. They split two games at Barclays Center against the Nets.

“It’s just us against everybody in the arena,” forward Amir Johnson said. “We like that.”

It may be the entire building against Ujiri, however.
