Ryan Seacrest adds NBC to Fox, ABC, E! gigs

It’s Ryan Seacrest’s world. We just live in it.

The man with the microphone and a banal questions on his lips will now host shows on four different networks with his new deal on NBC.

From January to May, of course, he’s busy with the Fox warhorse “American Idol.” In late December, he comes East for “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” on ABC, which airs live from Times Square.

In between those gigs Seacrest hosts red-carpet, awards show coverage on E! and is an executive producer of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and the other shows in that reality franchise.

The multi-tasker can now add NBC to his resume when he hosts “T
he Million Second Quiz.” The game show is a 12-day event that lasts, well, one million seconds — a trivia contest held live inside an hourglass-shaped set in midtown Manhattan.

It debuts on Monday, Sept. 9 and runs straight through to Saturday, with a 24-hour break on Sunday, Sept. 15, before resuming for three more shows and a finale on Sept. 19.

The hourglass will also serve as the living quarters of the four players who remain in the game the longest, a la “Big Brother.” Viewers will be able to play along at home in real time and sync to the live prime-time broadcast.

When the million seconds draw to a close, the champions will battle it out and the ultimate winner could claim an unprecedented cash prize of up to $10 million.

Seacrest, who also contributes to segments to NBC’s “Today,” is in the final year of his “Idol” contract. He’s one of the executive producers on “Million Dollar Quiz.”
