MTV tries flying ‘Virgin’

After years of putting strangers in social situations designed to lead to sexual relations on such shows as “The Real World,” MTV is having a change of heart.

The former all-music channel is launching “The Untitled Virgins Project,” a docu-series that follows the lives of young adults as they navigate the world of relationships and sexual pressures all while sharing one major thing in common: virginity. Should be a talker.

The network also announced a prime-time series called “MTV House of Food,” a kind of “Top Chef Junior,” in which four aspiring cooks live in a real house and compete in a variety of cooking challenges to win an apprenticeship.

Two new shows will bow in the afternoons. “Snackdown,” created by Rob Dyrdek (“Rob and Big”) is another cooking show that challenges young cooks to unleash their imaginations on your standard “munchies fare” and elevate them to a fully baked art-form.

The Ex and the Why” is a 30-minute daytime show where young adults who have unresolved issues from past relationships are given the chance to make amends.
