JPMorgan makes a splash with the ‘ice bucket’ challenge

Never say JPMorgan’s CFO Marianne Lake is all wet, except on Friday.

The banker — like thousands of Facebook posters — wanted to throw cold water on ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

Lake, along with more than 1,500 employees, participated in a mass dunking at the bank’s Park Ave. HQ. They were provided the orange buckets, a free t-shirt and the cold water.

On Facebook, you have 24 hours after being named by a friend to take the challenge. If you do not take the splash, you have to donate $100 in cash to the ALS Foundation.

But despite the mass dunking, the bank was a good sport and donated the $150,000 as well.

With celebrities and CEOs taking part in the viral challenge, the ALS Foundation, a non-profit organization for ALS research, managed to raise over $4 million since July 29.

JPM has nominated Madison Square Garden to take the challenge on Monday.
