Dog snatched during burglary is safely returned

She’s one lucky dog.

The New Jersey pup snatched during a burglary last week has been safely returned.

“It’s really a miracle,” owner Barbara August of Somerset told The Post. “We have a happy ending. I can’t tell you how relieved I am.”

Thieves entered August’s home Tuesday while she was out and grabbed jewelry, electronics — and Pepper, a 1-year-old female black schnauzer-poodle mix.

When August returned home, her little dog and even her leash were gone.

But the canine crisis came to an end Friday afternoon when police collared two suspects.

It was unclear Saturday whether anyone has been charged.

August said she had received a call from her veterinarian, who said someone found Pepper and wanted to drop her off.

That person had seen the vet’s number on Pepper’s collar.

“I was crying hysterically and trying to find my car keys,” said August, a retired teacher.
